PROTEST TO FREE THE PRAIRIELAND DEFENDANTS: WEDNESDAY 3/11

PROTEST IN SUPPORT of the Prairieland Defendants this Wednesday 3/11 outside the courthouse at 4pm.

The Prairieland Defendants are a group of 18 people arrested for holding a protest outside an ICE detention facility in Texas where they set off fireworks and made noise for detainees to hear.

During the event, the police were dispatched and a some kind of altercation ensued. The government is now framing these people as domestic terrorists, calling them an “ANTIFA” cell ( no such organization exists). The defendants are being tried for terrorism and other serious offenses not because they are actually terrorists, but because they were bold enough to step out against the mass deportation machine and challenge the status quo. This is a political sham trial that is an attempt to criminalize dissent and trample the first amendment.

The police are escalating their attacks on the supporters of the Prairieland Defendants who are outside the court every day to observe the trial.

On Friday, the Fort Worth police department briefly detained a supporter of the Prairieland Defendants for standing outside the courthouse at court support.

They claimed they were making a “private use of a public right of way” and that they were not allowed to have food in the park, but the police could not cite an ordinance to back up their claim.

The day before, the police threatened to cite the supporters for tabling even though they were in a public park, a block across from the court.

The supporters have attempted to hold their ground but are still facing aggression.

The police are pushing around these people and attempting to remove them from public eye because any amount of support for the Prairieland Defendants outside the courtroom threatens to reveal the illegitimacy of this sham trial.

Whether the pigs know this, or simply sense these court supporters are a threat to the boots they lick, we cannot be sure.

What we can glean from this, however, is that the people locked outside the courtrooms, the people in the streets, CAN impact the fates of those facing political repression.

We cannot let the Prairieland Defendants be silently condemned to prison for standing up for what is right!

The court is hastening this trial and could release a verdict in the upcoming week. Rallying visible public support is urgent.

Now is the time to turn up the heat for the Prairieland Defendants and the thousands of people currently imprisoned in detention facilities.

Tell all your friends, do not let repression win! It is right to rebel against ICE.

DEMANDS:

  1. Free the Prairieland Defendants!
  2. Free all the detainees!
  3. Stop the Deportations!
  4. End the Repression of Protest!
  5. Jail Killer ICE thugs!
