In Buffalo on February 15th, 2025, Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a blind father of five and refugee of the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar, was walking with a curtain rod as a make-shift cane. Shah Alam accidentally walked onto a homeowner’s private property, and the homeowner called the police.
Two bloodthirsty pigs–Darcie Brown and Christina Colosimo–arrived on the scene, immediately screaming at Shah Alam, who does not speak English, to drop his cane. While threatening to shoot Shah Alam, they tased him four times and proceeded to brutally beat him. In the body camera footage, Colosimo and Brown brag to the other cops about their brutalization of a blind man: “He’s gonna be injured. I don’t know how bad. He got hit by all four [Tasers] and still came at us with the fucking poles. He almost got shot… Nice karate kick… I almost had to pull my gun out.”

THE DA, DOCCS, AND ICE KEPT HIM LOCKED UP FOR A YEAR
After Shah Alam was brutalized and arrested, DA Michael Keane indicted him on felony assault, burglary, criminal mischief and 6 other lesser charges. ICE put a federal immigration detainer on Shah Alam as soon as he was booked in Erie County Holding Center. His family was fearful of posting bail, since the detainer meant that a transfer to ICE custody was possible.
Like the countless instances when the cops assault and then charge people, he was coerced into pleading guilty to lesser charges: trespassing and misdemeanor possession of a weapon (the “weapon” in question being a curtain rod, which he was using as a fucking cane). Waiting for a trial that never came, he spent a year in county jail before his family could post bond on February 19th, 2026. This date was the last time they would hear from him.
CBP MURDERED
NURUL AMIN SHAH ALAM
After he was bailed out, instead of being released to his family, Shah Alam was transferred to Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) custody. His refugee status meant that CBP agents didn’t deport him; instead, they dropped him off in the middle of the night in winter at a closed Tim Horton’s. CBP not only neglected to tell any of his family members or legal representation about his release or whereabouts—they didn’t even give him shoes.
Shah Alam had severe visual impairment and multiple other health conditions, spoke no English, had no contact with his family since February 19th, and had only moved to the country two months before his original detention. CBP knew what they were doing. They deliberately murdered Shah Alam. He was found dead on February 24th, four miles away from where CBP had left him.
NURUL AMIN SHAH ALAM SHOULD BE ALIVE WITH HIS FAMILY
Shah Alam is only the most recent victim of a long list of people brutalized by the cops and killed by DHS terrorists. These pigs laugh about killing and brutalizing people on camera. They think they can do whatever they want. Meanwhile, Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan and NY Attorney General Letitia James have nothing to offer the grieving family but “calls for investigations” and “reviewing legal options.”
The finger-pointing from one government agency to another is an insult to Shah Alam and his family. Who will bring his killers to justice? The CBP pigs who brutalized and arrested him in the first place? The DA who indicted him for holding a cane? The DOCCS who kept him locked up for a year before sending him to ICE? Or the DHS, who has murdered hundreds of immigrants over the past two decades in their detention centers? The whole damn system is responsible for the murder of Shah Alam. No internal pig investigation—especially not from AG Letitia James—will put these murderers and brutalizers behind bars.

Fatimah Abdul Roshid, the wife of Shah Alam, said, “He was everything to me. He loved me all his life. He was very loving and caring…He was a very calm and collected man, and he always take[s] the responsibility of the whole family, regardless of the situation…We were apart for 12 years…And now, forever apart.“
The family of Shah Alam, and thousands of other immigrant families across the country, deserve justice for their loved ones whose lives are stolen by pigs. No matter if they are DHS, local PD, ICE agents or COs, they should be scared of the consequences they’ll face if they murder a civilian.
Mass movements of people righteously rebelling are the only way killer pigs, whether they walk the streets or the halls of the White House, are going to be brought to justice, and the only way the system will listen to the cries of the most oppressed people in this country.
