Back in October 2025, APD was terrorizing people on 6th street when they brutally arrested 19-year-old Johnny Acuña-Jacobo and another teenager. Videos show APD’s Andy Garcia on top of a teenager and pushing their face into the ground. Meanwhile, thug cop Kenneth Ledger was viciously beating Acuña-Jacobo as the youth laid defenseless on the concrete. Garcia jumped quick to help Ledger in the assault and began to kneel on Acuña-Jacobo’s spine and punch him repeatedly in the head, knocking him unconscious. People in the crowd shouted in desperation for the cops to stop the beatings when Garcia got up, pushed the crowd back, and arrested a woman who bravely demanded an end to this brutality. Garcia began to escort the woman out of the crowd, and without any warning, he punched bystander James Rodriguez in the face. Rodriguez continues to suffer from brain injuries and PTSD five months after the assault.
As of February 18, Andy Garcia is on “indefinite suspension” for his actions. This only comes after a federal civil rights lawsuit against Garcia and the City of Austin, indicting them for their systematic brutalization and failure to discipline officers, citing 53 cases of police brutality since 2009. Many officers are named multiple times in different incidents. However, no policy violations were found with the actions of Kenneth Ledger and his brutalization of Johnny Acuña-Jacobo.
Pig Andy Garcia doubles down in a recent interview and says his assault was 100% justified. In this interview, the criminal cop had the audacity to declare it lawful for him to sucker-punch a bystander on the street. This is the true nature of cop culture across the country – being allowed to enact violence with impunity, brutalizing people whenever they want. The fact is that Kenneth Ledger showed us you can violently beat on a teenager in a viral video and APD will still be on your side. However, the true breadth of their immunity is most evident when the so-called “justice system” refuses to criminally charge killer cops and continues to employ them. They are only motivated to protect their own, actively encouraging these systematic brutalities to continue. Violent and escalatory behaviors are inherent in the official policy of every police department in the country. Every year since 2020, cops have killed more people than the previous year. The police were not made to protect us, only to protect the power and property of the parasite class, and APD is no exception. The long history of their continued brutality, racial profiling, and murder, details how the system is working as intended. Make no mistake, there is no corruption within these police departments, as the cops purposely protect each other while actively oppressing the masses. APD continues to show how violent and bloodthirsty their pigs are. It up to us to demand accountability and justice for these families
We demand that Andy Garcia and Kenneth Ledger be jailed and charged with assault. There will be justice for the victims of their vicious attack. We will not stand for the continued brutalization of people in the streets. If we want to see an end to the violence, beatings, and murders from these savage pigs, we must challenge the system in the only language they will understand. We must organize in mass collective struggle in order to force this boot off our neck. Only audacious resistance and mass confrontation will bring the change we hope to see.
