NYPD PIGS GUNNED DOWN TWO PEOPLE ON THE SAME DAY AND THE MEDIA IS PROTECTING THE MURDERERS
1 On Thursday, January 8th, the NYPD murdered two people: 62-year old Michael Lynch in Park Slope and 37-year old Dmitry Zass in the West Village. The pigs fired multiple rounds at Michael, who was a patient in distress at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. In the West Village, NYPD officers approaching the site of a car crash encountered Dmitry pointing an air pistol towards them. Pigs responded by firing dozens of shots, striking the victim multiple times.
In response, politicians and news outlets alike ran the typical routine of justifying the killings the way they know best: dishonest frame-ups. The media uses phrases like “standoff” and “police-involved shootings” to shift the blame to the victims of killer cops. NYPD operates as jury, judge, and executioner and the media circus takes over from there, justifying their actions and slandering their victims.
Two murders in five hours.
ZERO arrests.
In the Park Slope shooting, the pigs claim Michael Lynch was threatening himself and others with a piece of a toilet seat. They claim that there were attempts to deescalate the situation and that shooting was a last resort. We went out to Fort Greene, where Michael Lynch was from, to talk to people about how they saw the shooting.
Time after time, we see cops justify their killings with cries of danger and fearing for their lives. They claim to protect and serve communities, but only look out for themselves when shit gets hot. Just a few weeks ago, on December 21st, NYPD shot and killed Chez Frey in his home after his father called 911 for help.

In both scenarios, they did not report how many gunshots they fired. One witness to the murder of Dmitry Zass described hearing “about 20 gunshots as police officers yelled ‘drop the gun’ over and over.” Who was exchanging gunfire if only the pigs have guns? Given how routinely they use excessive and lethal force, how can we trust them when they claim to act in self defense?
Every time a cop guns someone down, politicians give some easy words promising “internal investigations” that lead nowhere. The news media may blame it on the fake gun or the makeshift knife, but we all know that the pigs are the primary executioners in the streets.
POLITICIANS CO-OPT MENTAL HEALTH CRISES
What does the Mayor have to say about all this? In a press conference, Mamdani said “The NYPD is conducting an internal investigation — I will work with Commissioner [Jessica] Tisch to ensure this is as thorough and swift as possible.” The reality is, cops are never held accountable for killing people through these internal process. Pigs will always protect each other and we cannot leave it them to get justice for these murders.
Mamdani’s plan will call for mental health responders instead of cops as a solution to stop police violence and brutality. What this will ultimately fail to do is get at the root of white supremacy that is behind the founding of this country and the modern-day police force. No amount of shifting the budget around or tweaking will come close to addressing police brutality.

It’s time to fight back
If cops kill without consequences, spin bullshit narratives, and make empty promises of “internal investigations” that don’t change the reality of rampant police brutality, what is left to do?
The only thing the pigs “protect and serve” are the same institutions that keep Black and Brown people everywhere in a vicious cycle of poverty and violence. The narratives they spin need to be debunked and fought back against.
