Drop the Charges, Defend the L.A. Rebels!

LONG LIVE THE BATTLE OF L.A.!

On June 6th, Trump directed ICE agents to massively escalate their crackdown on immigrants in LA and across the country.  They chased people down in the Fashion District, hunted for jornaleros in Home Depot parking lots, and slammed people to the ground to arrest them. These migrants were detained inside the Federal building in Downtown LA. The ICE agents – these baby-snatchers and human traffickers with with a badge and a gun – were separating families and sending people to mega-prisons in El Salvador. Undocumented people travel here for a better life, are exploited in backbreaking jobs, and when they are deported, they are sent back to their countries that have been destabilized and fucked up by the US imperialists.

The masses of LA responded with militant protests that confronted, obstructed, and dealt heavy blows against the mass deportation machine. Day and night, they fought their oppressors outside the Federal Building and outside City Hall. LA Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom called in the LAPD and California Highway Patrol to brutalize protesters and protect the mass deportation machine, but when that didn’t work, Trump called in the National Guard and then the Marines. Protesters blocked the freeway, disrupting business as usual. Even with thousands of troops armed to the teeth occupying our streets, with the air clogged with tear gas and filled with the sound of sirens, the chop of helicopters, and the ring of shots in scenes straight from a foreign war, with a curfew declared across downtown, the rebel youth of LA had still not given up.

IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL AGAINST ICE!

At least 575 people were arrested during the Battle of LA. At time of writing, 30 people are facing charges, some at risk of years in prison for rebelling against ICE. The people need to move heaven and earth to DEFEND THE LA REBELS!

These 30 people were charged because they shook the ruling class and knocked the mass deportation machine on its ass. It was right to rebel against ICE, and the real criminals that should be locked up are the ICE kidnappers, the LAPD officers who rioted against the people, and the politicians who pull the strings. This mass brutality and repression shows that LA is a “sanctuary city” only for the rich, the government, and their pig enforcers.

DROP THE CHARGES,
DEFEND THE LA REBELS!

Every person of conscience who opposes these ICE abductions must stand with the rebels and demand that all the charges be dropped. This fight against political repression needs to be waged inside and outside the courtroom, extending support to the people facing the charges, and never condemning the righteous actions of the rebels.

We must go to the people, listen to how they’re understanding the protest movement, and challenge them to join the fight to drop the charges. This is crucial to defeat the repression and create sustained organized resistance to the mass deportation machine based among the people. That way, when the next flame of mass resistance catches, it will become a wildfire that can finally melt ICE and burn down this mass deportation machine.
